Removed everything but primary functions, this model brings us back on what was before.

Mono display and simple navigation: This phone is made for those who want a cheap phone calling and sending SMS.
How many times did you hear other peolpe complaining about phone with loads of buttons and keys which they can't figure out, and only want a phone for sending SMS and calling? I'm sure not only once. So they in Siemens wanted to cover that part of marketing, however it can't be profitabile because with such phone without any extra functions they can't get any price. On the other hand, nowdays on marketing it's a success to sell anything, and it is easier to send out three cheap phones than one expensive.

However it is, Siemens A70, presenter of the entrry-level serie of a german manufacturer, is a simple phone made for those who want a cheap phone, and compatibile size and light weight. A70 is not trying to be presented better than it is. Plastic shell is not masked to seem to be made out of a better material, and not big display hasn't been made out of tricks to be seem as bigger. A device stays good in a hand, it is quite nicely curved shape and egde, and light weight (75 gram) so it will not only be nicely put in a women's purse, but in a pocket or on the belt. The only deecoration is a chrome track that frames upper part of a devicec and slighty accents a form of a phone. Keys are made out of hard plastic, and it's yellow background light, same as colour of a display, gives a little sport look at night. All three navigation keys have two way movement, up or down. Left and right key are double made as a soft key which activates a menu item shown down left or right on display and for accepting or rejecting a call. Center key is for going thru meni (only in two ways) and for getting a phone book while in stand by.
Numeric part of a keyboard with his hard keys and a possible tone gives a precisious message input, although we were expecting a little more from a phone whose main functions are calling
and writing SMS messages. By that we don't mean on T9 system of inteligent input which supports languages like german or english, but shorter waiting time while choosing signs. As well, we don't see why the keyboard is going shorter in lower part because it doesn't seem to be any more elegant, and keys are much smaller and harder to use. Usually for Siemens, silent mode and lock down is activated by long press on one of the bottom buttons which is very usefull at this phone.

Cheap and simple

Mono display is enough for elementary functions which this phone offers. Backlight, posibility of setting of brightness and contrast as well as a good chosen big and small fonts makes a good visibility, at least for such small displays. In stand by all of the important elements are shown: quality of a reception, battery status, operater name, date and time, but it's hardly impression for a lot of people. Screensaver offers only a picture or only a name of the operator, so it's a pitty that we don't have a simulation of an analog clock such as we saw on older Siemens mono displays.
A quality of a sound while talking is good, and sounds offer a slightly good sound while having a 32-chanell polyfonic melodies. Noxt and last multimedia posibility is sending and recieving of animations thru EMS messages, but this modedl is not made for any more than this. This devicec has a vibration as well, so you won't feel any less excepted than others while recieving a call (except for those with real tone melodies).
System of meni is simple so you will be quickly in any meni that you want, where there are usefull functions like alarm clock and a calculator. It is interesting taht a calendar gives us a posibility of seeing a budistic year. We don't know where this ideea came from, and why wasn't there jew, musliman and other years.
An impression of A70 is not hard to tell because it is allready been made by itself. Light. Simple. Cheap. If you really just need to make a calls and to send SMS messages, and no need to show everyone your modern classy phone, you can get a prepaid card together with a phone for a price of one better rock-concert.
